Black fungus or mucormycosis is a fungal infection which is triggered by coronavirus.

People catch mucormycosis by coming in contact with the fungal spores in the environment.
It is detected among patients who are recovering or have recovered from COVID-19.
The following conditions in COVID-19 patients increase the risk of mucormycosis:
(I) Uncontrolled Diabetes (II) Weakening of immune system d/t use of steroids. (III) Prolonged ICU. (IV) Co- morbidities/post- organ transplant/ cancer
